Charlaine, just why?

May. 13th, 2013 | 12:30 am

I read the final Sookie Stackhouse book today.  The books that inspired True Blood.  The show that brought me the eye candy of Alexander Skarsgård and Allan Hyde.  That inspired my TB fics.

Oh, how I wish I hadn't.

**Spoilers below**

Mainly because of what happened to Eric.  He's always been this badass, always protected Sookie, and repeatedly said he loved her.  Even though I wasn't that thrilled with how things were going with their relationship in the past two books due to the whole marriage contract his dead Maker set up, I never expected him to go out with such a whimper.  I honestly thought he had some trick up his sleeve that would get him out of the marriage deal and he and Sookie could live in peace.  But no.  He basically gets sold into sexual slavery for two hundred years and will never see Sookie again.

Okay, fine, their options were limited.  Sookie wants the normal white picket fence life which she'd never have with Eric.  Eric would have to watch her grow old and die.  They have a fight where he admits he wanted to just change her against her will and she's understandably pissed.  But then he leaves, goes off with the Hot Queen and that's it.  No angst on either part, no 'proper' goodbye scene that's worthy of a couple that have been together for five books or so.  Just a fight and adios Eric.

And Sookie ends up with Sam.  Essentially because he's 'there'.  She saved his life in the last book, sure, but that's what best friends do, right?  The relationship is just so abrupt!  She's repeatedly said that she only sees him as a friend.  They went on one date in the first book and he only asked her out then because he was jealous of Bill getting there first.  Had there been decent build up, maybe I wouldn't have been so pissed, but if there was build up, it was so subtle that it was non existent.

I noticed on Amazon that there is another official companion book coming out later this year, supposedly explaining what happens to everyone in the books after the end of the series.  I hope it offers some insight into the author's crazy changes of character here.  Maybe something about Eric only going to really protect Sookie from being killed and hating every minute of it.  Or of him killing the Queen and becoming a King himself.  That would be the Eric of the earlier books.

It was just so disappointing.  You know how well loved books feel like friends?  I feel like my friends have betrayed me.

The way TB is heading, I'm not hoping for much on that front either.  I'm stubbornly sticking with it, grimly hoping that the good writing of S1/2/3 will return.  I'm not holding my breath.

Will this end well?

May. 6th, 2013 | 08:12 pm

Just started downloading the first five seasons of Supernatural.  I watched the first season when it started airing years ago, but stopped watching it because I got a boyfriend and I wanted to spend sexytimes with him on a Monday night instead.

I do Doctor Who.  I do Sherlock.  I do True Blood.  Do I really have time for another fandom?

But, I can get behind this:

Hello to all the new friends from Doctor Who!  Just thought I'd give you from more random facts about me.  Just cause.

My current fandoms are: True Blood, Doctor Who, Thor, and Sherlock.

I'm currently shipping: Eric/Godric (True Blood), Rose/the Doctor (mostly Ten), Thor/Loki (Avengers/Thor), and Molly/ Moriarty (Sherlock).

I am a HUGE fan of slash.  The way I got into it is rather embarrassing.  I was looking for something good to read and saw the warning 'slash'... and thought that meant the fic was violent.  Being the ever so innocent (hah!) 18 year old I was at the time, I thought, "Pft, I can handle a bit of blood and guts in my fic!"  It was not blood and guts, it was sexytimes between Aragorn and Legolas.  I have not looked back.

I've been writing fan fiction for ten years now, off and on.  Started out in Lord of the Rings and am currently writing for True Blood.

I believe that grammar can be flexible as language evolves, but spelling is not.

I do read het as well.  I'm picky about my couples - this goes for slash too.

I read more than I write.  I have three bookshelves full of books and piles of books on the floor.  My room is always a mess because of this (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

Yes, I said my room.  I am engaged, but my fiancé and I own a three bedroom unit, so we each have our own 'room' to do our own thing in.

I collect children's books, both picture and novels.  Actually, I quite like reading kid's novels; I can read several in one afternoon whereas adult novels may take me a few days and I'll forget what was happening.

I have a black cat called Tyrannosaurus Rex.  He's a housecat, but as we have a tiny courtyard, he's allowed to play in that as long as he's supervised.  He's trained to sit before he's fed and before he goes outside.  He's terrified of other people.  If I ignore my alarm clock, he will headbutt me to remind me to get up.

Fave movies: Ugh, so many.  Amelie, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, The Last Unicorn, Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Pirates of the Caribbean, Transformers, Aliens... the list goes on and on.  We'll be here forever.

I swear.  A LOT.

I am addicted to Pinterest.  But it's a fantastic place to find fanart, especially for DW!

I have written one Doctor Who fic.

Well, I think that'll do for now!

nursedarry has written me a Godric/ Eric fic!

Title: Feels Like I’ve Always Known You
Fandom/Pairings: True Blood, Godric/Eric
Rating: NC17, just.
Summary: So, in my head – at least for the purposes of this story – everyone leaves the church and goes to do…whatever, and the next scene is the following night (‘cause who the hell can organise a party that quickly?). Which leaves the remainder of the night Eric gets Godric back completely free. Mmmmm... Angsty smut.

And thank you again, my dear!

Fandom: Doctor Who

Summary: If the sentient asteroid House has deleted all the bedrooms, all her things will be lost to him forever.  Then what will the Doctor do?  Set immediately after ‘The Doctor’s Wife’.

Rating:  G

Pairing:  Doctor/ Rose

Warnings:  None, just a lot of angst.

Disclaimer:  All the characters belong to the BBC.  Only the plot is mine.
